I’ve been teaching yoga and meditation since 2001. From the start my personal meditation bench design became popular with my students. So, I began making them one at a time back then and have been refining the design in subtle ways ever since. I also sell them on Amazon.com and the reviews there are amazing. I love hearing about people’s experience.
I still make every bench myself. It feels good to do so. It feels like a good thing for me to do.
Other stuff about me:
In 2002 I founded Ahimsa Yoga (a spiritual center for meditation and yoga in Torrance CA), then it became Ananda Meditation Center South Bay in 2005 and I continued there as primary instructor and spiritual director until 2010.
Now I have a workshop in Torrance where I build our meditation bench and custom furniture and a new teaching center called Yogananda Meditation Center.
I am definitely not a Master or a Guru. Just a person who enjoys sharing basic tools or concepts that have helped me with others who want them. I draw my inspiration from the teachings of Paramhansa Yogananda and Swami Kriyananda.

Hello, I know you from Twitter (I’m PhebeK).
Just wanted to say how much I’m moved by your blog. I especially like the pieces about Non-Lying. Really, I like & appreciate your spirit that comes through in awareness, honesty, & gratitude.
Thank you!

Dear Phebe,
Thanks for the feedback. I just reworked my menus and links so if you bookmarked anything, things may be different.
I’m so happy you enjoyed what you read. Keep in touch. There’s more on the way.

Hello Turiya,
I just wanted to thank you and Ashleigh for being so welcoming. I had a great time, for a lack of better words, last night. I look forward to attending another meditation Meetup.
I just wanted to let you know that your guiding was extremely effective for me; and that from the moment I walked into the room, I felt like I was in the right place.
Thank you for sharing your personal story regarding the early stages of your spiritual journey, several things about it really resonated with me.
Have a great week and perhaps I’ll see you all soon again in Torrance.
Nicole
Hi Nicole,
I’m glad you enjoyed the meditation and discussion. I really enjoyed those too. We live at Ananda now. Maybe you’ll do a retreat up here some time. I know there is a good one happening down your way in January with a couple of dear friends of mine, Gyandev and Diksha McCord. I think you would appreciate them. Here is a link to their website:
I would love to hear how you’re doing.
Blessings,
turiya
